Broken Harmony How to complete Patient tasks

The 1.2 objective that feeds Data and shortens the round — or spotlights you.

Patient Tasks Guide

Patients are the map tasks added in Broken Harmony 1.2.0. Scientists “tune” them. Each Patient needs four successful tunes. Each success cuts five seconds from the round timer and pays 15 Data. Fail, and the Experiment gets a highlight plus a sound. Walking away closes the GUI so you can run. This is the how-to. Role context sits on Scientist. Survival habits sit on the Scientist guide.

The walkthrough video in the middle is a stealth-leaning facility run. Use it to see how long you should stay on a machine when the hunter is in the wing.

How the minigame works

When you interact with a Patient, a tuning GUI opens. Community clips and comment sections describe the same input: move the green line to where the colored blocks are traveling. It is a tracking task, not a mash. On keyboard you drag or steer the line; on mobile the same idea uses touch. If your GUI does nothing, you are probably not aligned with the moving blocks — a common “it just doesn’t work for me” complaint under hour-long gameplay videos.

Complete the alignment four times on the same Patient to finish that machine. You can leave after two tunes if the hunter is coming; progress is per-tune, not all-or-nothing, according to the 1.2 patch write-up (each tuning grants the 5-second cut and 15 Data immediately).

Fail states

  • Miss the alignment → highlight + sound for the Experiment.
  • Stay in the GUI while Punch is coming → you die in the menu.
  • Walk away → GUI closes. This is good. Use it.

Treat a fail like firing a flare. Relocate even if you “only missed a little.” Rage memory lasting 7 seconds after 1.2 means the hunter can still be on that room.

Who should be on tasks

Not everyone. In a 6-survivor start (7-player server minus one hunter), two tuners and the rest on doors is healthier than six people crowding one Patient. One fail then highlights a pile. Class S cannot do tasks. If a Class S player is standing on your machine, they are wasting the gun. Send them to watch a hallway.

Data math

Four tunes on one Patient = 60 Data plus 20 seconds off the clock. That is already a chunk of Reminiscent (400) or a bite of Class S (950). There are no codes that beat a clean task route tonight. After the round, a popup shows Data collected — a 1.2 quality-of-life add.

Do not farm tasks in Last Standing unless the timer is the only way you win. You are highlighted for ten seconds at the start of 1:30. Opening a GUI then is how highlight becomes a Punch.

Heat and tasks

Experiments should drop Leeking Heat on unfinished Patients. If you are a Scientist and the floor is glowing, skip that machine. Heat does 30, highlights you, and can speed the hunter if you hug it. Go to a different Patient or play doors. That hunter habit is why the Experiment guide tells them to patrol tasks first.

Mobile notes

If the green line feels impossible on a phone, you are not alone. Play closer to the machine so the GUI is large, and do not also try to camera-juke. Keyboard is easier for tuning; touch is easier for some door plays. Controls lists both.

Microwaves are not Patients

1.2.6 added a microwave. 1.3.5 added a second. They are lobby / facility jokes, not timer cuts. Do not stand at a microwave hoping for 15 Data.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Scientist, Experiment, and Class S players.

How many times do I tune each Patient?

Four successful tunes. Each one pays 15 Data and cuts five seconds.

Can Class S complete Patients?

No. Class S cannot do map tasks. See Class S Scientist.

Why does failing a task feel so loud?

Because it is. Fail = highlight + sound for the Experiment. Walk away instead of forcing a miss.
